Bringing back a lost jewel of Paradise

Canada has left God and His Institutions...

For decades, previous generations of Canadians kept the first day of the week as the Lord's Day.  Shortly after the Lord’s Day Act was overturned by the Canadian Supreme Court in 1985, the Canadian Lord’s Day Association was founded for the purpose of “preserving the sanctity of the Lord’s Day and for the extension of His kingdom” and to exist as a continuing Christian witness to the Lord's Day in Canada.  We strive to raise awareness in and around our communities about the sanctity of the Lord’s Day, reaching out through advertising and education to inform others about the importance of the Lord’s Day.

Today, more than ever before in Canada's history, there is a great need to keep the Lord's Day. Both young and older individuals sense a void that cannot be filled by treating every day of the week the same. As the weeks and years go by, life's busyness can make us feel lost. Observing the Lord's Day as a day of rest is a crucial step toward restoring order in the lives of all Canadians.

Immediately after the creation of the world, God instituted the Lord's Day, both blessing it and sanctifying it. It was made for man, for the welfare of soul and body. We need to look around us at the complete dismantling of our society to realize that this is the result of our country rejecting God and the institutions He has given us, which were designed to lift up our hearts and minds.

Keeping the Lord's Day holy transcends all religions; it is a gift from God to ALL people in the world!

Effects of not keeping the Lord's Day holy

  • We have no real peace with God or with ourselves, regardless of where we might travel to find it.

  • Families lose fellowship with each other and their community without Sunday worship.

  • Without a day set aside to rest, meditate, and worship, many people suffer burnout.

  • Integrating faith in our lives increases productivity and contentment.

  • Canadians who keep the Lord's Day are more likely to engage in volunteering and community.

  • The Lord blesses a country that honours Him and His Word. The opposite is also true.

What does the Lord command us to do on this special day?

God's Law states:

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it". Exodus 20: 8-11.

We are commanded to stop all our regular work (with the exception of works of mercy) on this day and use it especially to worship the Lord. There are various ways that Christians and families have kept this day over the centuries.  We encourage everyone to read the Bible (and books that faithfully explain it) not only on Sunday but every day and to attend worship services regularly where we are taught from the Holy Bible about the way of salvation through Jesus Christ.
